Soho Motel is not a highway motel lost on some road in the middle of nowhere, but right at the heart of the city. Just about five to ten minutes’ walk from it stands a giant modern cultural complex with a beautiful park inside for that perfect evening stroll—Taoyuan Arts Plaza (Taoyuan Arts Center). Good Japanese restaurants and hot pot chains have recently moved into this area around the Arts Center, believed by many to be one big food district crawling with trendy cafes.

For shopping and supplies, there are ubiquitous 7-Eleven and FamilyMart convenience stores within a 2-3 minute walk. You are also walkable to JC Park, a shopping complex with fashion brands and restaurants. If you want to experience a local night market, the Taoyuan Night Market is a bit further but walkable (approx. 20-25 minutes) or a very short taxi ride away.
